In 1791, Jean-Francois Bautte signed his first luxury watches in Geneva, which allowed the company to manufacture watches in-house, from engineering to hand-polishing each component. The original Girard Perregaux got its name from Constant Girard, the founder, in 1852. It was until his marriage to Marie Perregaux in 1956 that the brand was changed to Girard Perregaux.
